Abbi from Grow Your Own Organic Learning’s portrait photography in Birmingham
I met Abbi from Grow Your Own Organic Learning in the middle of a field, in the middle of Wales, at The Do Lectures. Do is an ideas festival where creatives and entrepreneurs from all around the world come together to connect, learn and grow. I was going through something personal at that time and I vividly remember Abbi’s grounded and reassuring energy. I wasn’t at all surprised to learn that she’s an amazing coach
Fast forward a few years and I moved to the Midlands and Abbi and I reconnected. We’re on a similar journey in many ways; she’s a coach, I’m a (trainee) counsellor, and we both really strongly believe in putting people right at the heart of what we do.
Putting people at the heart of coaching
Grow Your Own Organic Learning is all about making space for others to really listen to themselves. Abbie creates a space where people can make sense of their experiences and to plan for future growth. Offerings include 121 and group coaching, as well as consultancy-based projects with clients.
One of Abbi’s core values is a commitment to working with evidence-based approaches that focus on business success and performance while incorporating energy that is a little bit playful and wild. In short, connection is everything, and we really wanted to capture that, along with who Abbi is as a person, for her portrait photography and branding shoot.
Portrait and personal branding photography that helps you to connect with your audience
When you’re having a portrait photography or personal branding shoot that aims to help you to connect with your audience, showing your audience who you are is the absolute key to connecting with your people. I talk a little bit about finding your niche as a business owner here but, in summary, your niche is YOU.
In showing Abbi’s audience who she is, we wanted to explore the way she spends her days and the things that make her tick. Her beautiful home, where she spends time with her family, is a huge part of that so we started the day with a mini family photography shoot with her small human. As you can see from the pictures, the small human in question wanted to take my picture as much as I wanted to take hers.
Styling your shoot is all part of the service
We then moved to Abbi’s office space, where I styled and captured some of the things that surround her as she works. This is all part of the service! I ask every client to choose books, personal objects and items that are important to them.
I’ll style them to make sure they’re aesthetically aligned with your branding and the overall feel of the shoot. We also incorporated some elements of Abbi’s work process into this part of the shoot. This is a great way of showing your audience your expertise, and all of the work that goes on behind the scenes!
Portraits that show you in all of your human glory
The final element of our shoot was some portraits around Abbi’s office and in her beautiful garden. Heading out into the garden gave us an opportunity to bring in the playfulness and wildness that’s an important part of Abbi’s approach. It was really lovely hanging out in the flowers and by the fire.
Abbi’s 1/2 day shoot means that she’s now got months’ worth of content that she can share and talk about her work, her process, and the things that she’s passionate about. Here’s what she said about our shoot:
