From knowing that you are your niche, to finding your why. Reflections on Finding Your Niche as a Heart-led Business Owner
In order to be the passionate and heart-led business owner, entrepreneur and/or creative human that you are, it’s so important to remember that you hold the key to finding your niche. Why do we even need to think about finding a niche in the first place? Because you attract what you project. It’s your unique, whole, individual self that sets the tone of what you’re putting out into the world, and what you get back as a result.
There is a common misconception that your niche is something we should be looking for outside of ourselves; that we should tailor our offerings to connect with a particular group of people. When we get too caught up in the specifics of who and where and how, we limit ourselves and our potential for expansion. So how do we find our niche?
One: realise that your niche isn’t external.
Your niche isn’t a specific category or group of people. It’s driven by your values, your passion and the special sauce that only you can bring to the table. It’s the one-off code that invites your people in, because you’ve sparked something inside of them by showing them who you really are and what’s important to you.
Two: you can find more of the work that you want to be doing, by doing personal work that you’re passionate about
My WILD project is a personal portrait project, where I photograph people who have a connection with nature and the land. It’s something I’m incredibly passionate about myself, as a hiker, a wild swimmer, and a spiritual human whose spirituality is very strongly rooted in nature based practices. WILD is a passion project, that’s driven by who I am as a person and through sharing images from this project I have ended up working professionally with a whole bunch of inspiring business owners whose work connects with the ethos of WILD.
Three: finding your niche starts with your ‘why’
Your ‘why’ is what you believe in, it is the very reason your offerings exist in the first place. People don’t buy into what you do, they buy into why you do it. Defining this creates your brand identity, which is the embodiment of everything you say, do, and value. It’s the basis for how you communicate your offerings, and what you want your audience to feel when they interact with your brand. It’s the personality of your business and the impression left with your customers.
Getting super clear with your vision
When you get super clear about your vision, your values and your why, you can operate from a place of intention. And when you are intentional, things begin to align! Becoming your niche is your permission slip to be your authentic, passionate, radiant self and in turn, the people who are looking for exactly what you have to offer will be able to find you and connect with you.
I’d love to help you to connect with the values that drive you.
