Colourful food photography shoot for Morridge Birmingham
Morridge is a Birmingham cafe that’s based in Great Western Arcade in Birmingham city center.
They specialize in oats and coffee, and they’re known for their delicious breakfast menu features a whole host of oat dishes, as well as breakfast rolls, coffee and juices. Naomi, one of Morridge’s founders trained in fine dining and Michelin kitchens, so you know you’re in for excellent quality. You’ll also get a really fun experience, as their cafe vibe and ambiance is retro and seventies style.
Community is really important to Morridge and they love to get to know their customers. They’re also eco-friendly, and support local businesses; for example, all of their pottery is handmade in the jewelry Quarter by a local artist. They’re also mostly vegetarian.
For Morridge’s shoot, we wanted to capture some dishes in the previous style they’ve been using. They’ve done a pretty great job of photographing individual dishes themselves, and I loved the strong yellow backdrop. I tweaked this a bit by playing around with angles and taking some close-up shots. We also wanted to capture the warmth of the dining experience, by incorporating some of the ambiance of the space into the pictures. It was really fun playing with the different textures and styling these little vignettes that give a taste of what the vibe feels like when you visit.
